‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 4 Spoilers: ‘Drama And Tragedy’ In Penultimate Episode, Director Promises; Will It Rival The Red Wedding?

"Game of Thrones" season 4 spoilers: get ready for a shocking penultimate episode in season 4, director Neil Marshall suggested. "Game of Thrones" season 4 second-to-last episode is likely to shock fans, who are probably still recovering from the Red Wedding scene in season 3's penultimate episode.

Spoiler alert: British filmmaker Neil Marshall will return to "Game of Thrones" to direct the penultimate episode of the upcoming season 4. During a chat with FlicksAndTheCity, Marshall gave a few spoiler details about what fans can expect from the "Game of Thrones" episode.

Marshall was asked if similar shocking scenes like the Red Wedding, which occured in "The Rains of Castamere" episode, will occur in his episode.

"I wouldn't doubt it," Marshall said, whose feature film credits include "Dog Soldiers," "The Descent" and "Centurion," according to Flickering Myth. "I think that's one of the key things of 'Game of Thrones,' which is to take characters that you loved for three of four years and then butcher them brutally. Yeah, there's a bit of drama and tragedy in my episode so I'm sure there is for the rest of the season as well."

We've already heard author George R.R. Martin talk about the Purple Wedding in season 4.

Speaking in a brief interview to TV Guide, Martin gave a little spoiler about what is to come in next season's wedding: "It's going to be the wedding of the year, and as memorable in its own way as our wedding last season...It's what the fans call the Purple Wedding, based on the color of the wine, which plays a big part."

Martin also commented on the scene itself: "[The wedding scenes] look spectacular. The bride's dress incorporates roses, there are 77 courses at the dinner feast, and there's some wonderful halftime entertainment."

"Game of Thrones" season 4 premieres next spring.
