NBA Trade Rumors – Derrick Williams To Sacramento Kings; Minnesota Gets It Wish; Will Take Mbah A Moute After Physical Tests

The Minnesota Timberwolves has made mistakes. Former GM David Kahn has been a running joke among bloggers. One of their grand moves that was not actually maligned was drafting Derrick Williams from Arizona.

Williams was a phenomenon in Arizona's run in the NCAA tournament. There was even a debate on who should be number 1 between him and Kyrie Irving. The key was because Irving played limited games for Duke in his one and only year due to injuries, whereas Williams had a celebrated college career for 2 years.

The Timberwolves didn't have that choice, as Cleveland drafted Kyrie Irving first overall in 2011. Their careers are now poles apart. While Derrick Williams is desperately being traded by his team to an older player with weaker stats but someone the team can utilize, Kyrie is untouchable in Cleveland. He is their best player on the court as well as their marketing cow. The only reason that Cavs fans have hope after Lebron left them in 2010.

Now, Williams is being traded to Luc Mbah A Moute of the Sacramento Kings. First reported by Marc Stein of ESPN.

Luc Mbah A Moute is from Cameroon, and a teammate of Kevin Love in UCLA. It is the worst kept secret in the NBA that Minnesota is trying to please Love so he doesn't leave when he becomes a free agent in summer 2015. They are building the team around him and acquiring players who can work with him.

Many T-Wolves fans are sad to see Williams leave. He is talented and a 2nd overall pick being traded for a second rounder because he couldn't find the right position. Not for a lack of trying, as Williams even lost weight to slide into the small forward spot. However, Coach Rick Adelman preferred to field Corey Brewer instead. The trade only awaits final approval of physical tests (requested by the T-Wolves).
