Thanksgiving 2013 Movies Released To Compete With ‘Catching Fire’; Will These Movies Surpass The Dystopian Film’s Record?

Several Thanksgiving 2013 movies released would have to compete with 'Catching Fire' and the buzz that it generated. The second installment of the Hunger Games movie attained a record of $158.2 million which was greater than the initial earnings of the first movie in 2012.

Most cinemas will still allocate a couple of their screens for the dystopian film.  On the other hand, Disney's 'Frozen' is expected to rake in more than $130 million for its first four weeks.  According to Kevin Fallon of the Daily Best, the film is tagged as Disney's best release since 'The Lion King'. The film is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's tale 'The Snow Queen'.

Jason Statham's 'Homefront' will likewise be released. It tells the story of an agent who's battling with feared meth dealer James Franco. Another Thanksgiving 2013 movie which will debut is 'Black Nativity'.

'The Book Thief' is likewise anticipated by fans of the pre-World War II bestselling novel. Other minor films to join the Thanksgiving 2013 films roster are 'Philomena' and 'Kill Your Darlings'. 'Philomena' tells the story of an Irish Catholic single mother desperately searching for her son whom she had no choice but to give up for adoption. 'Kill Your Darling' has a different storyline for it focuses on the lives of Beat Generation poets and writers who were rampant in 1940.

While film experts do not think that the Thanksgiving 2013 movies released will not dethrone 'Catching Fire' from its box office notch,  they strongly believe that 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' will have an equally impressive film records. The movie is slated for release this December 13.
