LA Lakers 'Hollywood Nights' Jersey Debut Results In Win Over Nets; Coach Kidd Spills Drink For Extra Timeout! Lakers Join Huddle [VIDEO]

The LA Lakers finally got to flaunt their much anticipated “Hollywood Nights” Jerseys. These jerseys are the opposite of their Sunday home game white jerseys.

It was a good opportunity to debut them in Brooklyn. They went up against the Nets, with old rivals from the Celtics Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. Coach Jason Kidd is a neophyte coach and he had a rough start. He has even been called “The Worst Coach in the NBA.” However, that does not mean he has no tricks up his sleeve.

The Brooklyn Nets were down by two points and Lakers guard Jodie Meeks was at the foul line. The Nets had no more timeouts, and Kidd also wanted to ‘ice’ Meeks who made his first free throw. The point guard known for his cunning more than his ability showed how useful that is when you’re at the sideline.

In a vulgar display of shrewdness caught on camera, Jason Kidd “accidentally” spills his drink on the playing court sideline. This is not permissible for the safety of the players. Thus, the refs call a mopman to clear the area, and Kidd’s assistants use the opportunity for some important last second plays.

There are many reasons to suspect that it wasn’t an accident. First, Kidd was clearly seen to mouth the words ‘hit me’ to Tyshawn Taylor while he was carrying a drink. He also chose soda rather than water as it takes more time to mop. Second, he seems to have stepped on the spilt soda a second later.
However, the minute long video showed some cunning from the other side. In the quick huddle, two players from the visiting Los Angeles Lakers joined to eavesdrop on it. Steve Blake was right beside assistant coach Lawrence Frank and Xavier Henry was eavesdropping at the background. They were hardly noticed except by the NBA’s bastion of fair play, Kevin Garnett, who would definitely have some words with the two.

Blake and Henry were perfect villains who would pretend that nothing happened. The Nets had no right to protest since it was not an official timeout anyway.
