Asus Chromebook Release Date: Google’s Manufacturing Partner For Tablets Will Launch 11.6-inch & 13.3-inch Chromebooks In 2014, Price: $199-$329

Asus Chromebook release date: We’re still a month away from the year 2014, but Google may have it’s manufacturing partner for tablets joining the Chromebook bandwagon. According to Techie News U.K., Asus and Toshiba are planning to launch Chrome OS powered laptops as early as first half of 2014.

Asus CEO Jerry Shen has revealed that the company will be launching two different models, an 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch Chromebook. There has been no official information about the pricing, but based on current prices for Chromebooks, the laptops maybe priced somewhere between $199-$329, according to DigiTimes.

Toshiba may also release its own Chromebook range next year, but there is no information on the screen sizes or possible prices. According to Techie News U.K., both Asus and Toshiba are going for the X86 architecture from Intel - most probably the Core ix range.

One vendor actively marketing its Chromebook is Acer. The company already has the C720 and has just released the C720P, which will soon go on sale in the U.S. for $229. HP has released its own line of Chromebooks, which has managed to receive good reviews.

News on the possible entry of Asustek Computer to the Chromebook market comes from Taiwan-based industry sources via DigiTimes and Hexus.net says that it’s possible that the system makers’ analyst must have tipped the tech manufacturer that Chromebooks are the next big thing.

The Chromebook that could be released by Asus, as well as Hewlett-Packard and Toshiba could possibly be Haswell powered.
