Anticipation continues to build for the Marvel character movies, and "The Amazing Spiderman 2" is not about to lag behind.

Marvel has the benefit (or burden, depending on how you look at it) of three different studios handling its characters. Sony has the rights to Spider Man and they want to develop its own universe. When they consider the box office success of the Marvel movies (The Avengers $1.5 billion, Iron Man 3 $1 billion and recent Thor: The Dark World about to reach $700 million), it's clear that Sony wants to emulate the Marvel model.

Sony has already confirmed TASM up to the fourth movie, and targeted release dates until 2018. What they have not confirmed is whether there will be spinoff films in between.

Through the viral website and cryptic interviews, it has been deduced that there will be a horde of villains in the Spider Man movies. They have already confirmed that TASM 2 will be Electro's film and a launch pad for the other villains. A leaked poster from Germany has been unearthed, and the subtitle has been determined.

The poster has a subtitle "Rise of the Electro". It's the same teaser picture in this post, but with the subtitle. See it on Screenrant.

There was also a triptych (a three panel poster) that was reportedly seen in Las Vegas. It depicts Spiderman in battle with Electro, but the Rhino can be seen in the background, as well as the figure of the Green Goblin on his hoverboard. Screenrant also provides the image.

The identity of the Green Goblin is no secret. It is Norman and Harry Osborn. However, what is still a mystery is whether it will be the father or the son in the costume. Dane De Haan plays Harry, and the father will be played by Chris Cooper. The Amazing Spider Man is a reboot, and wants to distance itself from the original trilogy even if it means straying away from comic book canon. Will they do that with the Green Goblin?

"The Amazing Spider Man 2" will be released on May 2, 2014. The trailer will be shown on December 5.
