The Answer: They're both at the bottom of the Atlantic. The Knicks lost to the Denver Nuggets, their 8^th straight defeat.

In the final play, they got the ball in the hands of their best player. Carmelo Anthony posted against a smaller defender and got his jumpshot blocked.

The Knicks started a season with a win over Milwaukee. Since then, they have gone 2-12. They have had a lot of off court issues as well.

Their owner, James Dolan, vented on anyone he can, including the team cheer dancers.

The Knicks signed J.R. Smith's brother, an undersized shooting guard, to a contract which pays him $2 million a year. He was eventually sent to the D-League. A twitter war between JR Smith and Brandon Jennings erupted because of that, and Smith was fined for 'hostile and threatening statements.'

While the Knicks' defense may get a pass since Tyson Chandler, their defensive anchor and rim protector got injured, the offense is also sputtering. JR Smith was supposed to be the second scorer behind Carmelo Anthony. 

His average of 11 points per game on a woeful 33% field goal percentage will not get the job done. Yet the Knicks, in their desperation, are willing to trade their one and only asset, Iman Shumpert, because they are secure in the guard position. They still came up empty handed.

For every Knicks loss, Carmelo Anthony suitors are cheering. It's becoming less and less likely that he will choose to stay with the team. While the Knicks can get back on track when Chandler returns, and they can even make the playoffs in the awful East, they're future looks bleak. They don't have a draft pick in the best draft of the decade next year. They don't have cap space to lure any one from the free agent class.

The Knicks had a players only meeting in the locker room..a seeming trend for losing teams. Nobody came out with a black eye, and for the Knicks, that may seem like a bad thing.  Perhaps that's what they really need.
