NBA Trade Rumors – Dion Waiters For Iman Shumpert, No Deal; Rockets Want Two First Round Picks For Asik, No Deal

NBA Trades are complicated to pull off. At first glance, a trade between Dion Waiters and Iman Shumpert sounded good, but no dice. A player that wants out finds the exit is not always open.

The Knicks have not denied shopping Iman Shumpert. While many see this as a desperate move by the Knicks, they are actually quite focused on what they want. The Knicks are not in a hurry to move Iman, they are even reluctant. However, their team badly needs frontcourt help.

The Cavs, on the other hand, are not confirming their intentions of shopping Dion Waiters. The sophomore guard is putting up good numbers, but he has since lost favor with team management arising from his conflict with Kyrie Irving.

Waiters allegedly called out Irving in their players only meeting. Waiters accused Irving and Tristan Thompson of playing 'buddy ball' and refusing to pass to him. Thompson and Waiters got into a verbal argument and had to be restrained from each other.

According to ESPN, the Cavs have reached out to the Chicacgo Bulls for Luol Deng, the Philadelphia 76ers for Evan Turner and the Knicks for Shumpert. The Bulls and Sixers want draft picks, while the Knicks reiterate that they want a frontcourt player.

Knicks are satisfied with Shumpert, but they just need to trade him because of team needs and they believe Shump is the only asset (aside from Carmelo Anthony).

The best case scenario for the Knicks at this point is to take Omer Asik of the Houston Rockets. However, the Rockets have no need for Shumpert since they have James Harden and Chandler Parsons as two of their better players. Also, Asik definitely has more value than Shumpert.

The Rockets has undoubtedly had good offers for Asik, but they haven't found the package they're looking for. MSG Network reports that the Rockets want two first round draft picks for Asik, preferably one for next year. That is something the Knicks don't have, and most other teams will not want to give.
