Guardians Of The Galaxy Spoilers: ‘Walking Dead’ Actor Michael Rooker Juicy Revelations On His Role As Yondu Udonta And Director James Gunn

Guardians of the Galaxy Spoilers: Michael Rooker who is known for his role in "The Walking Dead" as Merle Dixon is now being reborn as Yondu Udonta in Marvel's latest attempt in the box office.

When Rooker spoke with Total Film he said that even though his role was very challenging he had a great time doing it:

"There's hope in this character, but the stuff going on...I can't talk about it but...it's challenging. You have to forget that you have all these issues like three hour make-up and stuff. Once you get that stuff on you have your own down time. You forget you have it on. You just play the role and you have great time doing it."

He played coy when asked to reveal some juicy information about his special powers on the movie saying:

"I don't think I'm at liberty to discuss any powers of any sort...Y'know, most of the roles I play, just by it being who I am--normally they're somewhat formidable individuals. That's just sort of my look and my build. So we utilise that in almost everything I've done, and it's the same in Guardians."

He also said that he knew very little about the Guardians of the Galaxy's comic books, but he did read a lot about it:

"I knew of the Guardians but it's a lesser known one. It started back when I was a teenager. They have the newer and newer versions. I actually started getting more into graphic novels and comics a little bit later in life. It was before The Walking Dead, but during The Walking Dead I ended up reading all The Walking Dead--all the way up to the current issues. I didn't read all of the Guardians but I read a lot. Some of the old ones are hard to come by. They're quite collectable. I go to these Comic Cons but I don't get a chance to shop."

ScienceFiction.com had the chance to talk to Rooker about Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn saying:

"It's felt like a James Gunn movie as soon as he called me about it! I went out and bagged a comic just to see what he was doing, and I was like 'Oh my God, he's doing this! I was very happy because he's a big comic guy, even as a young child he really enjoyed reading them, so it was great to see him doing something that really got his creative energy going...He loves to torture me and make me look strange. Directors always love to tell actors what to do, and he loves telling me what to do, and that's why he hired me!"
