Upcoming Android Phones 2013: Pantech Unleashes Galaxy Note 3 Killer Vega Secret Up, Packs Fingerprint Scanner, Privacy-Protected Display

For the past few months, one of the most awaited upcoming Android phones in 2013 is Pantech's Vega Secret Up, which has been dubbed as a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 killer in Korea. And now that the company has finally unveiled the handset, we would soon find out if all the built-up hype was worth it.

In a report by GSM Arena, Pantech has announced its newest flagship phone, dubbed as the Vega Secret Up. It boasts high-end specs for a phablet of its size, which is highly understandable given that it has always been marketed to stand toe to toe with Samsung's latest Galaxy Note flagship.

In case you still haven't heard or read any details about the Vega Secret Up, it boasts a 5.6" screen with 1080p display, a 2.3Ghz Krait 400 CPU, Snapdragon 800 chipset, 16GB of internal memory, Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM for lightning fast operation processing and multi-tasking.

Other notable features include a 16MP primary camera, a 3,150mAh battery and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Given the specs mentioned above, the Vega Secret Up indeed almost matches up evenly with the Note 3, save the Super AMOLED display of the latter. However, the Pantech also has some tricks up its sleeve.

According to the report, the Vega Secret Up has a fingerprint scanner for added security. And if that's not enough, the manufacturer has also enabled what they call privacy protection for the screen. When the owner is looking directly at the phone's screen, other people would not be able to view any of the contents of the display.

Though this feature sounds pretty futuristic and cool, we still haven't checked whether Pantech is able to deliver its premise well.

The Pantech Vega Secret Up will hit the stores in Korea before the year ends, though information regarding an international release is not yet available.
