Hickson told the team's official website after the team shot a season-low 39.1 percent from the field. "One of the things coach (Brian Shaw) has said all season is that we're going to be a no-excuse team. We're not going to make any excuses. We just have to get back to the drawing board."

The Celtics are coming off an eight point victory vs the Milwaukee Bucks and are 4-2 in their last six. The team's offense has picked up somewhat, scoring almost three more points-per-game.

Jordan Crawford totaled 43 points in the two games, but spurred the latest victory by scoring 15 of his season-high 25 points in the fourth quarter.

"We've just got to learn to stay focused and pull out these wins -- grind them out," said Crawford, who was 5 for 5 from the field in the fourth, including three 3-pointers.

Of the entire Eastern Conference, only the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers are above .500. The Celtics sit atop the Atlantic Division at 8-12 while the favorites of the division in the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets are struggling.

"We're 8-12. It's not like we're lighting the world on fire," said Stevens, who was hired to mold a young roster after Boston traded Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry to Brooklyn over the summer.
