NBA Trade Rumors - OKC Thunder Wants Iman Shumpert; Will Offer Nick Collison And Draft Pick As Harden Trade Haunts Oklahoma Franchise

The New York Knicks have just secured a win that snapped its losing streak. However, there is still no long term solution to their problem: frontcourt help.

They continue to shop Iman Shumpert but frontcourt players are usually more valuable than shooting guards in the NBA. They are unlikely to get a high profile talent.

The Oklahoma City Thunder, on the other hand, remain a contender. Yet, even with their elite status, they have a proverbial monkey on their backs. Trading James Harden, who eventually became a top shooting guard, is still haunting their franchise.

OKC would've been the anti-Miami Heat, building their own version of the Big Three through the draft instead of acquiring them from other teams. They could have had enough to beat Miami and become NBA champions, especially after Serge Ibaka's development. However, they traded Harden for a package that included Kevin Martin.

While Kevin Martin is no James Harden, he still provided them with shooting. The only problem was, Kevin Martin took a better offer and left.

In the Grantland season preview video for OKC, they discussed how the OKC Thunder might fall apart. This is because their owner refuses to spend more money at the expense of losing good players. How long will Kevin Durant endure? They speculated that if the Thunder failed to win a championship by 2016 at the end of Durant's contract, he may choose to transfer to a franchise that's willing to pay the price.

Durant has brushed off that speculation. Now, there's another speculated trade that has the Thunder seeking some young firepower to make up for the loss of Harden. OKC wants to capitalize the continued development of rookie Steven Adams as a viable frontcourt player. They will trade Nick Collison and their first round draft pick (which will be low) to the Knicks for promising guard Iman Shumpert.

The trade has not been proposed as yet.
