NBA Trade Rumors - Kyle Lowry Is Next To Be Traded; Toronto Raptors Are Confirmed To Tank; 'Fire Sale' Offers Skilled Veterans For Cap Space

Kyle Lowry is up for grabs as another one rides the tank. The Toronto Raptors have been on the fence on whether they will try to contend or just blow up the team and tank.

The trade for Rudy Gay signifies their intention of looking ahead towards next season. Rudy Gay is their resident superstar but he has a big contract at $17 million this year and a player option (which he will probably exercise) of $ 20 million.

Now that they want to start over, the Raptors will focus on getting assets for the future and trade their veteran assets. This will also help them in their 'tanking' scheme. Players like Kyle Lowry will help you win in the regular season, and that's not exactly their goal at present.

With the Raptors 'fire sale' teams with a need for point guard should take a shot at Lowry. Those who want to contend for this year will find him very useful. Current averages of 14.8 points and 6.7 assists on a bad shooting team (special thanks to Rudy Gay and his 38% field goal percentage) is not impressive, but for a back up point guard, it can make a difference in the playoffs.

A team like the Golden State Warriors could use Lowry to back up Stephen Curry. The Warriors underestimated the importance of Jarrett Jack and now they feel the need to beef up the point guard spot since Stephen Curry will be a marked man.

The Chicago Bulls is the team with the biggest need at the one spot, but they might also be looking ahead. The Bulls have the possibility of getting two first round picks if the Charlotte Bobcats fall out of the top 10 in the draft. They can trade their own pick for Kyle Lowry, and they can make a competitive combo guard combination when Derrick Rose returns.

Lowry shares his thoughts on the impending trade with the Toronto Sun:  "You didn't expect it to happen this fast or this soon, but you knew or at least felt it was coming. It sucks, but it's a business."
