‘Avengers Age Of Ultron’ - War Machine/Iron Patriot To Play Pivotal Role After Sitting Out The First Movie; Are They Slowly Edging Out Tony Stark?

Robert Downey, Jr will still play Iron Man through the next two Avengers movies. However, Marvel is not content with Iron Man just appearing in the super team movie. Will they just replace him?

In the latest installment (Iron Man 3) we see War Machine/Iron Patriot played by Don Cheadle in a vastly increased role. There was also the remote controlled armors (which got blasted one by one). The storyline veered away from the usual textbook superhero movie, but one cannot help but notice the underlying tones of that movie.

The separation of Tony Stark from his armor, his vulnerability due to physical stress and his 'situation' with Pepper Potts, the armor moving independently-they seem to be preparing us for the inevitable end.

As reported by Bleeding Cool, Col. James Rhodes, or Rhodey, who dons the War Machine/Iron Patriot armor will be a part of "Avengers: Age Of Ultron." It is already a given that Tony Stark will play a role in the emergence of Ultron. How this will affect the rest of his scenes in the movie is still unknown.

Going back to Rhodes, it would be possible that he would hold the key to stopping Ultron while Stark/Iron Man is rendered helpless (a theme that's becoming all too familiar). While that is just speculation, it is a probable precursor to what Marvel has been preparing its fanboys to do: let go of Iron Man, or at least, Tony Stark. Or at least, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.

Joss Whedon has already hinted several times about the 'end of a franchise.' The Avengers will have new additions, but they will also lose some of their members. Who will stay, and who will leave-or who will die? This simply adds more reasons to watch the sequel.

More questions and answers until May 2015, when "Avengers: Age Of Ultron" hits theaters.
