‘X-Men Days Of Future Past’ Cast – James McAvoy Confirms Professor X Return in ‘X-Men Apocalypse;’ Relates Massive Change In The Character

James McAvoy snagged the role of one of the most iconic figures in the comic world. Playing a young Professor X in the "X-Men: First Class" and now in the sequel, "X-Men Days of Future Past" he relates how different his character has become.

In the last scene of "First Class" we see how the conflict between Magneto and Professor X has escalated in proportion. The peaceful approach that Charles Xavier has always espoused is put to the test as he becomes a victim of violence himself.

The plot thickens as it is revealed that the humans that he has tried to defend from Magneto's vision of mutant dominance will eventually annihilate them in the future. Has Magneto won the argument? Did Professor X surrender his dream of peaceful coexistence?

These are the answers we need to look for when Days of Future Past opens on May 23, 2014.

Meanwhile, James McAvoy talks about  his character's transitions from the first movie to the second, and the eventual 'Apocalypse' sequel that director Bryan Singer just announced.

He confessed to Red Carpet News TV:

"I only heard about it this morning!"

"The personal pleasure for me in First Class was in presenting a Charles Xavier to the fans - but also a new audience - who's very different from the Charles that you expected."

"In the second movie, I get to present another version of Charles Xavier who's still very different from the Charles that used to exist, but he's also remarkably different from the Charles in First Class as well.

"So the Charles in this film is unrecognisable from the Charles in the last film as well as unrecognisable from the Charles played by Patrick Stewart, who I then get to face up to.

"It's like we're playing a game with the audience saying, 'Look at the many faces of Charles-Patrick-Stewart-Xavier-McAvoy. It's really good fun."

While he did not confirm signing on 'Apocalypse' he did say he is confirmed to return for the 'third movie' which is what Apocalypse is.
