Andrew Garfield revealed he hasn't signed on for "The Amazing Spider-Man 4" yet, and there's no word from Emma Stone. Does this mean Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone won't be in "The Amazing Spider-Man 4"? Will Sony have to reboot the "Spider-Man" franchise again?

According to IGN, Andrew Garfield talked to Yahoo! Movies UK about "The Amazing Spider-Man 3," which he is under contract for, but Andrew revealed that he hasn't signed on for the fourth installment in the franchise.

"That's all news to me. I mean, I'm under contract for another one after this... as far as a fourth one? That's not anything to do with me," Andrew Garfield said.

And what about Emma Stone, his off-screen and on-screen girlfriend?

Spoiler alert: Emma Stone's character, Gwen Stacy, dies in the Marvel comic books, making way for Peter Parker/Spider-Man's next love interest, Mary Jane. According to ScreenRant.com, Emma Stone is aware of her character's death in the comics, and has alluded to the fact that her character will be written off.

Many are speculating that Gwen Stacy dies in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," due out May 2014, after seeing photos of Emma Stone in the same outfit that Gwen wears when she dies.

Emma Stone told  Interview magazine: "Essentially the argument is that Spider-Man kills her by accident, so the person she loves is the person who kills her, which is the most horrifying thing. Apparently people unsubscribed to the comic book when that happened because they were just so flipped-out over it. But, of course, I want to stay true to that."

According to MTV News, "The Amazing Spider-Man 4" isn't due out until May 4, 2018. But if Garfield decides not to sign on with Sony to play Peter Parker in the fourth installment, then they may be forced to reboot the franchise with new actors.

Or perhaps Sony will decide that "The Amazing Spider-Man" franchise will end with Garfield's exit.
