Star Wars Episode 7 Release Date: Without A Script And A Budget Could The Biggest Sci-Fi Movie Of All Time Reach Its Target Date?

Star Wars Episode 7 release date is set on Dec. 18, 2015, but without a script and a budget still, it seems like it's going to be a real challenge for the cast and crew to reach that target date.

The Chairman of Disney, Alan Horn, spoke to Variety during an event on Friday admitting that there is no script ready yet for the 7th installment of the sci-fi franchise, though he's expecting the script in January. It has affected the budget of the film as well, as it hasn't been finalized yet, though they're expecting it to be around the range of $200 million.

Could this affect the Star Wars Episode 7 release date? Or has everything planned already and they're just waiting for the production date to provide all the details.

It's obvious though, that Horn has been talking with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy about the film and that he's not totally in the dark when it comes to many aspects of the movie.

The statement may probably just mean that the script isn't finish yet and January would be the latest that they could turn it in, especially that filming is about to start on Spring.

Variety reporter Marc Graser, reported as well that Horn discussed about the recent news on Indiana Jones saying, "We need a story." Guesses it will be another two to three years before we see a fifth movie."

Since Disney and Lucasfilm Production revealed the news about J.J. Abrams directing Star Wars Episode 7 on January 24, 2013. It can be expected that this would be the same time that Disney would also be revealing information about the characters, actors, etc.

Meanwhile, Benedict Cumbercatch, is reportedly too eager to land a role in J.J. Abrams' project.

During his interview with Conan O'Brien for his role in "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," he was asked by Conan, "I heard that you very much would like to be in Star Wars and you're lobbying J.J. Is that true?"

Where he enthusiastically answered, "Yeah, it started with me with sort of...I just sort of would leave casual messages on his phone as a light saber. I thought he thought he was getting bad cell reception or something," said Cumberbatch. "Then, I even went on a chat show and auditioned for Chewbacca. I sat next to Harrison Ford and did my audition."
