Christian Bale Will Star As Moses in Ridley Scott’s 'Exodus,' After Super Heroes, Are Biblical Films The Next Movie Trend?

After watching super powered costumes heroes, moviegoers will have a chance to lay back and watch..biblical characters perform miracles. It seems like nobody wants to see normal people anymore.

The next year will see epic super hero movies like "X-Men: Days of Future Past" "The Amazing Spider Man 2" and "Captain America: Winter Soldier" among others. They are definitely in the list of anticipated movies and possible blockbusters. However, there is another trend that's brewing: Epic biblical tales.

The film in that genre for next year is Darren Aronofsky's "Noah." Aronofsky is known as a visionary director.  He claimed in his introduction for a special screening of the film in Texas for a church based Echo Conference that making a film about Noah and the Great Flood was his dream since seventh grade.

From the Hollywood Reporter, Aronofsky talked about how he wrote a poem about Noah and how he read it in front of the United Nations:   " (The experience) gave me the courage and spirit to be a writer. So Noah's very much been a patron saint in my life leading me toward my creative endeavors."

"I'm also excited that Hollywood has finally agreed to make the first biblical epic in almost 50 years. It's been a long time since Bible movies were on the screen, and there's been a lot of advancements in technology and special effects, and maybe that's the reason why Noah's never been attempted on the big screen before, because of the size and scale of the deluge and all the different animals. ... But now, finally, with Hollywood's help, we can actually do this and bring it to life."

Ridley Scott does not have a specific epiphany like Aronofsky, but he has Christian Bale as Moses on the set for "Exodus." Let's hope it's not like a live-action "Prince Of Egypt."

Aside from "Noah" and "Exodus," there is also "Son of God." While it is not biblical, "Pompeii" is also an ancient epic due for next year.

Audiences are not taking risks anymore. They want to see different renditions and adaptations of classic and familiar stories, fictional or historical, past or future.
