Taylor Swift Donates $100K To A Music Group For Her Birthday; ‘Red’ Singer Deemed As A ‘Great Example’ For Her Generosity

Taylor Swift's birthday not only included a garden-themed party with Lorde but also with a generous donation to the Nashville Symphony. For her 24th birthday last December 13, Swift extended $100,000 to the 85-member nonprofit performing arts group.

Using Nashville Symphony's Twitter account, the musicians thanked the songstress: "We are profoundly grateful for @TaylorSwift13's donation. Thank you, Taylor, for supporting musicians and music in #MusicCity! Happy birthday!"

On its official website, the Nashville Symphony's mission is "achieving the highest standard for excellence in musical performance and educational programs, while engaging the community, enriching audiences and shaping cultural life."

President of Local 257 of the American Federation of Muscians David Pomeroy commended Swift for her deed:  "Taylor Swift has set a great example. And I hope that others will follow her lead and help ensure that the Nashville Symphony musicians' salaries can be restored as soon as possible."

Several symphonies have already filed for bankruptcy because of economic struggles. The Nashville Symphony is no exception for its Schermerhorn Symphony Center was nearly foreclosed earlier this year. This is why the 'Red' singer's donation is very timely.

Apart from her recent donation, Swift similarly pledged $4 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2012. That same year, she also opened up a learning center for children and gave 14,000 children's books to the Nashville Public Library.
