Casey Anthony Gets Another Verdict Win; Bankruptcy Judge Rules She Doesn’t Have To Pay All Her Debts

Casey Anthony gets another favorable verdict as a Florida court wiped out her debts except for student loans or criminal fines. The order was signed by Judge K. Rodney May on Tuesday.

In her bankruptcy plea, she claimed that she has $792,000 in debt, most of which were liabilities accrued while defending herself for the death of her 2-year-old daughter. She also claimed that she only has $1,000 in income.

Anthony claimed that she has no recent income since she's unemployed.

This is not the first time that Anthony has a brush with the law. She barely escaped a one-way ticket to jail after the murder charge filed against her for the death of Caylee was dismissed.

Anthony also entered into a settlement with the Texas Equusearch Mounted Search and Recovery that helped look for her daughter. The girl's body was discovered five years ago, about six months after she went missing in Orlando in December 2008.

The settlement was approved by a federal bankruptcy judge in November.

After her child went missing, Anthony waited a month before contacting authorities. She was arrested in October 2008 and was tried for murder. Anthony gained notoriety when her trial became a nationally televised event.

The trial lasted six weeks but when Casey Anthony's verdict came out, the jury found her not guilty. However, she was convicted for perjury.

In a bankruptcy case, not all debts will be discharged by the judge. The respondent will still have to pay government levies, obligations for domestic support, students loans, or any other debt for medical bills in case of injuries.

Bankruptcy also doesn't clear the respondent of any obligation in case he or she is responsible for the death of somebody else while under the influence.

"It does not determine how much money, if any, the trustee will pay to creditors," the document said, according to ABC News. "Most, but not all, types of debts are discharged if the debt existed on the date the bankruptcy case was filed."

Nonetheless, Casey Anthony's verdict in her bankruptcy case essentially frees her from almost all of her obligations.
