‘X-Men Days Of Future Past’ - Professor X Actor Patrick Stewart On Meeting His Younger Self; Will He and Ian McKellen Return For X-Men Apocalypse?

'Professor X' actor Patrick Stewart is very candid about meeting his 'younger self.' He also reveals whether he will return for the next X-men move, "Apocalypse."

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Patrick Stewart finds it very welcome to see James McAvoy as his younger version:

"James and I come not just face-to-face, but nose-to-nose almost."

"There was a certain happy charm about it, in that, when we shot that scene, it was James' first day of work and it was my last day. So I was saying goodbye to X-Men and he was saying hello. James has seen everything I have done, I've seen everything he has done. He is illustrating a time in Charles Xavier's life which was very different from the time that I've been inhabiting in the previous three movies, and we just let that play out. I think we've both been looking forward to doing that scene immensely."

A rather interesting detail is that his companion, Sir Ian McKellen, almost stopped him when he reminded Stewart: "You might be betraying a confidence.." and Stewart replied: "No, there's a clip in the trailer."

McKellen also clarified that he did not meet his younger self (played by Michael Fassbender):

"I just stay by myself and I never meet my younger self," McKellen said. "I think [Fassbender] made it clear that he wanted to be his own Magneto and that suits the nature of the story and his part in it."

They were asked on whether they will return for X-Men Apocalypse. They were admittedly surprised when asked about an upcoming X-Men movie, and they would answer "Yes it's opening in May." Upon the clarification that it was about the 'next' one, Stewart said: "They didn't tell us about it so we're probably not in it. Then later on, they will realize that they need us."
