New York Knicks Anthony Suffers Injury During Win Vs Orlando; Will He Undergo Operation?

Good News and Bad News for fans at the Madison Square Garden.

Good news: the New York Knicks a rare win against Orlando Magic, 103-98. Bad news: a really, really bad news: They lost Carmelo Anthony to injury.

On Monday night, the Knicks took control of the game versus the magic until the third quarter wherein Anthony was forced to leave the game because of a sprained left ankle. The visitors lost its 25-point lead through a Magic rally led by Aaron Afflalo and Glen Davis. Despite early departure, Anthony still led his team in scoring with 19 points.

With eight minutes left in the third quarter, the 29-year old small forward was seen limping out of pain during one play. He and the coaches decided to bring him out of the court and by that time, because of their big lead, Anthony thought that there "wasn't any reason for me to go out there and risk it anymore."

"I am walking," Anthony said. "I think I caught it before it rolled all the way, but it rolled pretty bad. So we will evaluate everything (Tuesday). The good thing is I am able to walk with a little bit of pain. We will figure it out tomorrow. The pain was just too much. I was actually trying to walk it off to see if I could come back into the game.

For fans, there's not much to worry about as the team cleared that it wasn't a major injury and the 6-time All-Star is listed day to day. Knicks coach Mike Woodson also remains optimistic about Melo coming back just in time for their game against Western Conference leader Oklahoma City Thunders.

"Melo's a tough kid," Woodson said. "He doesn't sit out very often and we just have to wait and see how he feels tomorrow, see how he is and we'll go from there."
