‘X Men Apocalypse’ –Professor X Dies To Save Magneto In Age Of Apocalypse; Master Of Magnetism Follows His Dream Of Peace; How Different Will It Be?

Another storyline that could be used in the new "X-Men: Apocalypse" movie to be released in 2016. Age of Apocalypse is one of the best ever, and most comic book pundits predict the plot will be based on this in some way.

In Days of Future Past, Wolverine travels to the past to try and stop an assassination plot by Mystique and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants which would eventually cause the creation of the Sentinels.

In Age of Apocalypse, Charles Xavier's son Legion decides to travel back in time to try and kill Magneto so mutants and humans can finally co-exist. Professor X is inadvertently killed, though, and these events happen before the X-Men were formally established (circa First Class).

This act eventually led Magneto to a change of heart, and he decides to take the dream of peaceful co-existence upon himself. This is the context of Age of Apocalypse-the alternate reality that is created from that event, when the group of heroic mutants is led by Magneto, not Professor X.

Since Apocalypse is an ancient master of space and time, he became aware of this reality and decided to try and conquer it. In the 'real' universe, he waited 10 years from that take-off point. Apparently, Magneto is not as strong a leader as  Professor X was, and the story begins with Apocalypse already installed as the ruler of North America.

The storyline portrays the resistance of Magneto's mutants. The popular characters are not the same as we know them. Rogue became Magneto's wife. Colossus and Shadowcat are also married and they lead a team of mutants in the resistance as well. Nightcrawler is also the leader of a mutant resistance team based in Britain. Wolverine and Jean Grey are lovers,

Apocalypse always believed in evolution and survival of the fittest. He has a natural hatred for humans, whom he believed to be the inferior race. In AoA, he had a Holocaust style genocide operation, and Magneto and Rogue's team was primarily in charge of trying to put an end to these.

If they use this arc, it gives them a free hand to recreate and re-imagine the characters. Scott Summers aka Cyclops was somewhat of a villain here, initially working for Apocalypse, because he was discovered and adopted by Mister Sinister (there was no 'School for Gifted Youngsters').

The only glitch to 'Age of Apocalypse' is the involvement of the Inhumans. Marvel still owns the rights to that race, and are rumored to produce a movie for it.
