Marjorie Merriweather Post Great-Granddaughter Slain in Honduras; General Mills Heiress Victim of Domestic Violence

Nedenia Post Dye was found slain in Honduras last week, according to police. Dye was the great-granddaughter of Post Cereals founder Marjorie Merriweather Post and the American heiress to the General Mills cereal fortune. The police are saying that Nadenia Post Dye was victim of domestic violence. Nedenia Post Dye was found stabbed on December 22.

Marjorie Merriweather's great-granddaughter was found stabbed to death in her bathroom on Sunday. Dye had a home Honduran island Roatan. Police said Dye appeared to have been stabbed many times in the back.

Cops said that Lenin Roberto Arana is under arrest on suspicion of Dye's murder. He is a musician known as "The Canary" who had been romantically involved with Dye. Dye was helping local singer quit drugs. Roatan police chief Alex Madrid said "She was a good woman who worked with young people at risk, drug addicts and alcoholics."

Arana denied that he killed the General Mills heiress. He claims that was on his way to airport at the time of the slating. Police cited witnesses saying they heard Arana and Dye arguing in the hours before her death. Madrid said Arana was captured trying to flee in Dye's car. He was wearing blood-soaked clothing.

Arana told local reporters "I'm innocent. Nedenia was like a mother to me. She protected me."

Police Comandante Alex Madrid said "We believe she was a victim of domestic violence.  [Arana] allegedly killed her because he wanted to get crack. It was apparent he was under the influence of drugs."

As Marjorie Merriweather's great-granddaughter Dye is worth about $35 million. She was heir to the General Mills Post Cereal fortune of $250 million.

Dye operated a luxury spa resort called Baan Suer te on the Caribbean island.

Dye lived on Roatan for 15 years.

Dye was from of Santa Monica, California. She went to George Washington University.
