Anime Freak News: "Nobunaga the Fool" is coming to Cruncyroll.

Crunchyroll announced that it will stream a new anime created by Shoji Kawamori, who made  "Macross," called "Nobunaga the Fool." The new anime is based on a stage play also called "Nobunaga the Fool." The new series will be animated by the studio Satelight.

Crunchyroll will simulcast "Nobunaga The Fool" every Sunday starting on January 5, at 15:15p.m. ET. For the first week, it will only be available to its premium members. Free members will be able to catch the episodes a week later. Nobunaga the Fool will be available in the United States, Canada, the U.K., Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. The official "Nobunaga The Fool" synopsis reads: The East Star and the West Star... It is said that the separated stars were once connected by the supernatural chain called the "Dragon Stream." Both stars enjoyed their own prosperity, but such a peaceful period came to end. They come to be bombarded by chaotic vibration of time, and entered into a series of war. Joanne d'Arc is born to save the world, the only person knowing the reanimation of a transcendence technology called "Shinki," meaning God's vessel. She foresees an emergence of deliverer and makes her way to the East, together with Leonardo da Vinci, the man of the insight. In the East, her foresight of "deliverer" refers to the most delinquent guy, Nobunaga Oda. Is Nobunaga is the true deliverer? Or, is he only the devastator?

"Nobunaga the Fool" was created by Kawamori, who made "Macross," "Escaflowne" and "Aquarion." The series will be directed by Hidekazu Sato who helmed "Basquash!," "Slayers Next" and "Fortune Quest L" for Satelight studios. Original character design will be handled by Artist Yone Kazuki, who worked on "Hakuōki," "Hiiro no Kakera - The Tamayori Princess Saga." "Nobunaga the Fool" character designs will be adapted by Hirotaka Marufuji from "Aquarion Evol," "Legends of the Dark King: A Fist of the North Star Story." The opening theme song, "Fool the World," was performed by Minori Chihara and the closing theme, "Axis," will be done by Stero Dive Foundation.

Mamoru Miyano will do the voice of Oda Nobunaga, a Japanese warlord and the legitimate heir of the country of Owari on the Eastern Planet.  Yōko Hikasa is the voice actor for Jeanne Kaguya d'Arc, a girl from Donremi on the Western Planet.Takahiro Sakurai will play Akechi Mitsuhide, a captain for Oda.  Yuuki Kaji plays Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a womanizing vassal for Oda Nobunaga. Nao Tōyama will play Himiko, the queen of the Yamatai country.  Yūichi Nakamura voices the character Gaius Julius Caesar, a member of the "Roundtable of Kindred Souls." Ibuki Kido and Haruka Ishida play Nell and Bianchi, twin girls who watch Caesar on the Eastern Planet. Nobunaga Shimazaki plays Oda Nobukatsu, Nobunaga's younger brother. Hiroki Nanami plays Uesugi Kenshin who rules the country of Echigo.

Nobunaga the Fool anime series is scheduled to air starting January 5, 2014.
