It has been a very good year for Buena Vista after four of its films landed in the top 10 highest grossing films of 2013 in terms of domestic sales with Iron Man 3 coming in first after the Robert Downey, Jr starrer grossed a total of $1.2 billion sales receipts worldwide.

Paced by "Iron Man 3" which earned $403 million, Buena Vista's animated films "Monsters University" ($268.49 million) and "Frozen" ($256 million) also made a killing at the domestic box office after ranking in fifth and sixth, respectively.

Another of their film "Oz The Great and Powerful" landed at ninth place after earning $234.911 million, according to Box Office Mojo, which compiles the list of the yearly domestic gross.

Meanwhile, Buenva Vista's release "Thor: The Dark World" ($202.515 million) nearly squeaked at the top 10 but failed to beat out Paramount Pictures' "Star Trek Into Darkness," which earned $228.778 million.

Gravity was also included in the top 10 box office domestic sales after earning $254,587 million ($652,394 million worldwide).

While Universal's "Despicable Me" ($367.76 million) trailed "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" ($393.474 million) in domestic sales, it showed resilience and became the second highest grossing film worldwide after Iron Man with total sales of $918,573,535, E! Online reported.

"Fast & Furious 6" had the biggest haul in worldwide sales after a paltry domestic showing (No. 8 at $238.679 million). After all the global receipts were computed, the movie catapulted to third place with $788,679,850 in profits.

Hunger Games came in fourth with $771,484 million then followed by Monsters University with $743,559 million and "Man of Steel"with $662,845,518 (No. 4 in domestic sales).

Meanwhile, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" held the distinction of being the most pirated movie of 2013, said E! This was followed by "Django Unchained" then the Vin Diesel-Paul Walker starrer "Fast & Furious 6."
