New Year's Day Sales And Hours: Target, Best Buy, K-Mart, Walmart, Macy's, Gap, Banana Republic, And More!

As New Year's Day 2014 arrives, many retailers are attempting to start the New Year with extended sales and store hours.

Unlike previous years, New Year's Day 2014 will see many retail chains like Target, K-Mart, and Walmart extend their holiday hours to regular store hours.

For example, Macy's will open their stores at 10:00 am on New Year's Day, giving 2014 shoppers a comfortable start to the shopping year.

Unfortunately, New Year's Day sales traditionally lack the oomph of Black Friday or Christmas holiday sales. The most readily available sales you'll find are reportedly fitness equipment and apparel.

For fitness equipment, K-Mart and Sears are offering excellent sales to jumpstart 2014 with a healthy New Year's resolution. You can find sales up to 30% and 40%.

JCPenney is offering 25% off purchases more than $200, 20% off purchases more than $100, and 15% off all purchases. An extra 10% will extend to furniture, mattresses, blinds, shades, fine jewelry and watches.

In apparel, you can find the biggest New Year's Day sales of all. Places like Aeropostale is offering up to 70% off its winter clothing, and Abercrombie & Fitch, Aldo, American Eagle, Banana Republic, DSW, Express, Gap, Hollister, Old Navy, and Victoria's Secret are keeping up with massive sales of their own.

Although New Year's Day 2014 is not the best time to find sales on electronics, places like Best Buy, Office Max, and Radio Shack are offering a select clearance items.

For example, Best Buy is offering a Yellow Tag Sale with 50% off clearance and open box items. 10% discounts will also be offered on all Beats in-ear headphones.

At Office Max, you can find up to 47% off printers and 20% off select paper supplies and ink/toner.
