Pokemon Hoenn Remake Rejected By Disappointed Fans Of X And Y, Black And White 2: Should Game Freak Decelerate Nintendo 3DS Releases?

And as 2014 begins, Pokemon fans are wondering what Nintendo and Game Freak will release this year to satiate those who are getting through X and Y.

Of course, the rumors of DLC for Pokemon X and Y has been around since the games' release, but another theory is that a Hoenn remake for Ruby and Sapphire will be the next project for Game Freak.

Plenty of Easter Eggs within X and Y seem to hint at a Hoenn remake, but some fans are less than enthusiastic about a Ruby and Sapphire re-release for the 3DS.

"Stop this annualization of the franchise. Five games in the mainline series have been released in the past five years in the US. Annualization is what is killing [Call of Duty], it is what made Battlefield 4 such a hot mess and it might make the consumer grow tired of Assassins Creed too," wrote Daedardus.

"It makes you rush out to release a game that year, just to make a quick buck, instead of wanting to make an actual good game. It makes you run out of ideas quickly. And you try to circumvent that by putting in ideas sparingly. You don’t want to make this one game the best, because you want the next one to sell."

Some fans have criticized the release of Pokemon X and Y for its short playrun and lack of post-game content. It also featured far fewer Pokedex additions than ever before.

"[Black and White] 2 was just a recycled [Black and White] 1 with a worse story. X and Y showed lots of potential but eventually fell short. Where’s the endgame? What is going on with that frame rate? I can understand you wanted to rush the game to save the 3DS, but the 3DS doesn’t need to be saved anymore," continued Daedardus.

Do you agree with this assertion? Is Nintendo overextending their release schedule at the price of quality of quantity for the Pokemon franchise?
