Rookie Idols BEAT WIN Drop Debut Music Video for 'She's My Girl' - Do They Have What it Takes to Become K-Pop Stars?

BEAT WIN is one of K-Pop's newest acts and they have just released their debut music video for "She's My Girl."

Even though the new six-member idol group was only announced a few days ago, BEAT WIN have managed to drum up quite a bit of buzz as one of K-Pop's first rookie groups of 2014.

Formed under entertainment agency Heavenly Star Content, BEAT WIN released their debut music video on January 6 at noon KST through their distributer LOEN Music via YouTube.

"She's My Girl" was produced by Nam Gi Sang, Kwon Sun Ik, and Kang Jun Myung of the production team N Company who have previously worked with popular girl group Girl's Day.

The debut single is about a guy who wants to approach a girl he is interested in, but does so in a way that isn't very gentlemanly.

The video features the standard K-Pop boy band fare including close up shots of the members with their quaffed hair and clean complexions intermixed with choreographed dance scenes, all set against white and black backgrounds. And of course, no song would be complete without the short rap verse bridge.

"She's My Girl" is not a bad song, per se, but it is not exactly original either. Ultimately a rather disappointing debut for BEAT WIN who have not only several other rookie boy bands to set themselves apart from in the coming weeks, but a whole range of well-established K-Pop groups (male and female) who have all moved beyond such stereotypical pop.

The six members - Sunhyuk, Jungha, Yoonhoo, Sungho, Youngjo, and Sangkyu - have been training since 2011 and are undoubtedly talented. "She's My Girl" features nice vocals and tight choreography - albeit a tad boring - and it will be interesting to see how the guys fare on stage at their debut showcase January 7, as well as on the music show circuit.

BEAT WIN may not have had the most original debut to kick off 2014 or their careers, but the year is still young and they've only just begun. Time will tell if they have what it takes to make it in the ultra-competitive Korean entertainment industry.
