Upcoming Samsung Phones 2014: Upcoming Galaxy S5 Rumored To Sport Better Hover Gestures And Passive Stylus Input From Synaptics

The number of upcoming Samsung phones for 2014 has not increased since the start of the year, but there have been rumors which point to several devices to be launched at the MWC and several weeks after that.

One particular phone, none other than the Galaxy S5, has been getting a lot of attention lately due to the changing announcement dates mentioned by two Samsung executives.

Now, a new rumor suggests that the hover gestures, as well as passive stylus input will greatly improve as a result of its partnership with Synaptics.

According to a report from Android Authority, Korean IT portal ET News claims that Synaptics is working with Samsung in delivering better air gestures as well as a much improved stylus input.

The hover gesture was first introduced in the Galaxy S4 and allowed users to interact with icons widgets by just keeping their fingers close to the screen without actually touching it. ET News reports that Synaptics aims to make Air View much more accurate, as well as increase the range of detection.

As for the stylus input, the report says that the device would not communicate directly with the phone, and instead function as an extension of the user's finger. While we can't still fully grasp how this works, this certainly looks promising.

With a rumored launch in March, the Galaxy S5 is already shaping up to be the best smartphone Samsung has ever built.
