Install Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update On Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos; Custom Firmware, Omni ROM, Available For GT-I9082 or GT-I9082L Units

Owners of Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos can now install Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on their smartphone.

According to a post from International Business Times, a custom firmware based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is now available for Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos. Reportedly, an Omni ROM was released by k2wl, a senior member of XDA developers.

It was also noted that most features of the Omni ROM based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat update are already working. Some of the features already working on the latest Omni ROM update are the camera, video playback, and playback and recording of audio, Wifi, RIL (calls, SMS, Mobile Data), Bluetooth and sensors such as accelerometer, compass, light, and proximity.

The developer also shared that the custom ROM is not working on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Thus, Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos interested to install Android 4.4.2 KitKat update via Omni ROM need to upgrade first to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos was released on January 2013, according to NDTV Gadgets. The smartphone comes with 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1 GB RAM. Furthermore, it has 8 MP primary camera and 2 MP front camera.

For those who wish to install Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos, there are requirements to satisfy before proceeding with the installation process. For instance, users need to verify first the model number of their device as the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is only compatible with GT-I9082 or GT-I9082L units.
