Johnny Manziel NFL Projection: ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. Lists Texas A&M Quarterback As Number 1 From Mock Draft Despite Comparison To Brett Favre

Johnny Manziel NFL Projection:

Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN has recently released his NFL mock draft and not so surprisingly Heisman winning quarterback Johnny Manziel has topped the list.

Kiper has projected Houston Texans to pick Texas A&M star quarterback Johnny Manziel together with two other quarterbacks in the top 10 list.

After the Heisman-winning quarter back just announcement that he'll be forgoing his remaining two years on NCAA and will take his chances on the professional league, projections for the NFL draft came flying in.

"After long discussions with my family, friends, teammates and coaches, I have decided to make myself available for the 2014 NFL draft," Manziel said. "The decision was not an easy one, but we all felt this was the right time to make the next step toward a professional career. My experiences here and the support of this school, coach [Kevin] Sumlin, chancellor [John] Sharp, my teammates, my classmates and Aggie football fans everywhere will be something that I carry with me for the rest of my life. I'll always be an Aggie," Manziel's statement via Texas A&M, admitting that it was not an easy decision to make.

The Heisman-winning quarterback sure knows what he's doing as he led his team with five total touchdowns helping the Texas A&M Aggies to a 52-48 victory from behind on Wednesday's Chick-fil-A-Bowl game.

The 21-year old sophomore told the reporters that he has just entered a zone he had never reached before, a sign that he could be ready to take on the professional league.

His being a redshirt sophomore makes him eligible for the NFL draft and his professional career mainly depends on the other quarterbacks vying for a spot in the league.

Johnny Manziel's performances have put him in the NFL first round pick projection. He has a very impressive resume in his hands, nearly completing 69 percent of his passes for 7,2820 yards with 63 touchdowns and 2,169 yards with 30 touchdowns.

However, Manziel's size could be his drawback, listed as 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds on Aggies official site. He was also limited to make rushes and time out of the pocket to avoid injury during the season.

It can be safe to assume that one of the reasons why Manziel decided to enter the NFL draft this year was because of the imposing threats from Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater, Clemson's Tajh Boyd, Fresno State's Derek Carr, and Central Florida's Blake Bortles.

In addition, a report coming from National Football Post said that a scout from NFL claims that Johnny Manziel is comparably similar to Brett Favre saying:

"He's Favre," the scout claims. "On Sunday, he's going to play his (butt) off. The rest of the week, he's going to do what he wants to do."

"If you tell him not to go drink, he's not going to listen. He's going to go drink," the scout said of Johnny Manziel. "If you can tell him not to chase (women). He's going to chase (women). That's just who he is and he's going to do what he wants. I think he's going to be great, but you're going to have to deal with him on his terms."

While these are just merely opinions, Jason Cole reported that the same scout accurately predicted the stardom of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson on NFL even before he was drafted, making his opinion credible as compared to others.
