"Pirates of the Caribbean 5" will see the return of everybody's favorite pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow as he tries to outwit the ghost of Captain Brand in looking for the Neptune's Trident in "Dead Men Tell No Tales." .

According to the official synopsis, Captain Brand plans to use the Trident to kill Jack Sparrow out of revenge, believing that the pirate was responsible for his brother's death. The film is scheduled to be released in 2016.

Daily Mail Online reported that Christopher Waltz is on the shortlist to play Captain Brand. Waltz made heads turn playing the villain in Quentin Tarantino's film, "Inglourious Basterds," in 2009.

Johnny Depp is set to reprise his role as Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales." He will be joined by Geoffrey Rush as the wily Captain Barbosa and Keith Richards as Captain Teague. It's not clear if Penelope Cruz will be joining the cast but MailOnline revealed that she might do a cameo.

In the 2011 film, "On Stranger Tides," Cruz played Angelica Teach.

Expect also a romance between Sparrow and Carina Smyth, Barbosa's daughter, further spicing up the love-hate relationship between the two pirates.

"She falls for Jack as their adventures keep them together, but he rebuffs her advances in fear of angering Barbosa," MailOnline said, based on the script notes it managed to obtain.

The website revealed that shooting for the "Pirates Of The Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales" will begin at the end of the year in Puerto Rico and New Orleans as the initial identified location shoots. It will be directed by Norwegians Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning.

Aside from the "Pirates Of The Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales," the directors also have another project in the pipeline as they secured the rights to film "Amnesia," which according toDeadline is a "Norwegian thriller by second-time helmer Nini Bull Robsahm."
