K-Pop Crossover: 2014 Golden Globes Maternity Fashion Dominate Social Media Discussions, Remains Largely Unseen During Korean Award Shows

The Golden Globes is all about celebrity fashion, and 2014 has been branded the year of maternity fashion.

During the Golden Globes red carpet walk, celebrities such as Olivia Wilde, Kerry Washington, and Drew Barrymore ignited social media with their bold and fashion-forward dresses which highlighted their baby bumps.

Drew Barrymore dazzled in a "flower dress" by Monique Lhuillier, while Olivia Wilde made the bold choice to wear a form-fitting Gucci. "Scandal" star Kerry Washington, meanwhile, wore a soft-white Balenciaga.

Despite the many, many stars and celebrities at the 2014 Golden Globes, the maternity fashion became the social media lightning rod that had everyone praising these women's fashion choices.

The decision to show off their pregnancy has become something of a prideful trend amongst female celebrities. In the K-pop world, however, this is largely unseen.

At the 2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards, many stars attended the event, but the world of K-pop is largely filled with very busy—and very young—idols who have little time to even consider dating.

Recently, Wonder Girls member Sunye gave birth to her son with husband James Park. During her pregnancy, Sunye was very rarely photographed or seen in the public.

She was noticeably pregnant and trying to hide her baby bump she attended actress Joo Ah Min's wedding, and comments were very positive and supportive.

As K-pop fans, if maternity fashion something you would support if it were seen more commonly during red carpet events?
