Upcoming Windows Phones 2014: Microsoft Rep Confirms "Co-Marketing" Strategies With Other Manufacturers, Denies Multi-Million Dollar Payouts

Yesterday, we reported a rumor that Microsoft is shelling out $2.5 billion to work with other OEMs in developing upcoming Windows Phones for 2014. A representative from Microsoft confirms and denies the rumor at the same time.

In a new report from BGR, Microsoft representative Frank X Shaw posted on Twitter that Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin's claims were inacurrate. Shaw then confirmed that the Redmond giant is currently utilizing co-marketing strategies with its partners, but completely dismissed the price tag Murtazin claimed in his own tweet several days ago.

However, Shaw did not refute Murtazin's claims that Microsoft is indeed paying its partners. He only emphasizes that it isn't shelling out that much money.

But now that this issue is confirmed, we may expect Windows Phone to get more OEMs this year. As Nokia becomes part of the Redmond company, Samsung, Sony and other OEMs would take its place and promote the growing WP8 platform.
