Fitness model workout, tips: Anthony Catanzaro has been a male model since he was 18-years-old and now at 43, Tony is still considered one of the best male fitness models of his time, having appeared in numerous magazine covers, TV commercials and even a reality show.

As a regular contributor to Bodybuilding.com, Tony shares his secrets to living a successful and fit life and in this exclusive piece, he shares some of tips on how to make 2014 your best year yet.

On Health
Tony says that the secret to health is no secret at all. People’s lack of discipline, like not opting not to sleep properly and lack of exercise can cause havoc on your body and mind. The only way to good health is balance. You need to eat balanced healthy meals, exercise and stretch regularly, rest and get better sleep. Cutting alcohol is also very important, Tony says. Visualizing you’re healthy and strong is also important. If you think you’re healthy and strong, “then healthy and strong you shall be!”

On Happiness

“The main goal in life is to be happy,” says the New York-based fitness model. Tony says that you don’t need anything to be happy, but you need to decide to be happy. Such decision costs nothing - it doesn’t even require any effort at all. If you keep waiting to make money, find a soul mate or achieve better health before you say you can be happy, then you’re just going to make it more difficult for you.

“In order to be happy, just choose to be happy now and you will see all these other things move toward you,” says Tony.

On Feeling Young

As an advocate of a fit and healthy lifestyle, Tony says that the way to stay young is to lift weights. “This is because weightlifting keeps your muscles toned and firm.” The way you think and approach life is also very crucial to how you age. Tony says that he knows some people in their 50s who act like they’re in their 90s. “Your attitude and state of being is what keeps you young forever.”
