Johnny Depp, Amber Heard Engaged! ‘Marriage Is Really From Soul To Soul,’ ‘Mortdecai’ Actor Says; Changed His Mind About Weddings?

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are engaged, according to a new report. Has Johnny Depp changed his mind about marriage with Amber Heard? Why didn't he ever marry his long-term ex-girlfriend Vanessa Paradis?

Before Johnny Depp got engaged to Amber Heard, the "Mordecai" actor revealed his feelings towards marriage, and how he thinks weddings are unnecessary in relationships.

According to Us Weekly, Depp explained to Extra in 2010 why he never married his ex-girlfriend of 14 years, Vanessa Paradis, the mother of his children Lily-Rose, 14, and Jack, 11.

"I never found myself needing that piece of paper," he shared. "Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don't need somebody to say, okay you're married."

However, Johnny Depp did add at the time: "If Vanessa wanted to get hitched, why not," he said. "But the thing is, I'd be so scared of ruining her last name. She's got such a good last name."

Maybe Amber Heard, 27, finally convinced Johnny, 50, it would be a good idea to tie the knot!

"Of course they couldn't be happier to be engaged and excited to share the rest of their lives together," a source told People magazine.

Depp has been married once before to Lori Anne Allison from 1983 to 1985. He's also previously been engaged to actresses Jennifer Grey, Sherilyn Fenn, and Winona Ryder.

According to a previous report, Johnny proposed to Amber on Christmas Eve, but it took her a while to say yes.

"It happened on Christmas Eve," a source close to the couple told Celebuzz. "Amber really took her time to make up her mind."

"She turned him down before," added the source, "before she said yes. So she waited and was thinking about it for a long time."
