Since the loss, the Kings have won two straight. The first win was a 1-0 affair over the Canucks and a 4-1 victory over the Blues in St. Louis for what was the first of a four-game road trip. Trevor Lewis scored his first two goals of the season in the win.

"(Lewis) does all the details within our game, within our system," center Jarret Stoll told ESPN.com. "A lot of stuff doesn't get noticed when you're writing articles or seeing us on TV. ... He's a great teammate so it's good to see him get rewarded."

Jimmy Howard stopped 47 of 48 shots but wound up with a loss because Henrik Lundqvist (38 saves) didn't allow a goal in what ended up being consecutive 1-0 losses for Detroit following the victory over the Kings last week.

"I thought our team played hard the last couple games but we didn't win," coach Mike Babcock told reporters after practice Friday. "We got to find a way to get some points. As you can see in the standings we're not in a good situation. We got to get some traction and get going."

Injury report, according to NHL.com:

"Kings defenseman Matt Greene (upper body) did not make the road trip. ... Red Wings center Joakim Andersson (lower body) is day-to-day, center Pavel Datsyuk (lower body), center Darren Helm (shoulder, groin), forward Johan Franzen (upper body), defenseman Jonathan Ericsson (shoulder, rib), goalie Jonas Gustavsson (groin, neck), forward Stephen Weiss (sports hernia surgery) and forward Daniel Alfredsson (groin, back) are all on injured reserve and not expected to play."
