DeAndre Jordan All Star Dunk Contest Appearance Depends On One Condition, What Is It?

DeAndre Jordan of the Los Angeles Clippers has shown the world how great of a dunker he is. Last season, he dunked all over Brandon Knight, earning the play the Dunk of the Year tag. In this year, he continues his brilliance in above the rim plays and fans are clamoring to see him in the All-Star dunk contest. The 6'11 center said he want to play in the February festivity. However, he has one condition.

According to Broderick Turner of the LA Times, the NBA office sent an invite to the high leaper 25 year old player but he said that he wants more than that.

"I just told them I wanted to see what happens," Jordan said. "I'm not trying to disrespect them. But I want to be in the All-Star game as a player and not just as a dunker."

DeAndre is making a valid argument here. So far, he has shown massive improvements in his game when it comes to minutes played, rebounds, and blocks per game. Under Doc Rivers' tutelage, he is now seen on the floor during end game. He sweats 35.4 minutes per game, and posts a career-highs of 9.5 points, 13.5 rebounds (the most in the league), and 2.5 blocks.

The Los Angeles Clippers already has two representatives in the ASG, the highly publicized Blake Griffin and injured Chris Paul. The chances of Jordan making it to the final team are rather slim since the voting system does not favor his position. The Texas A&M University stand out faces stiff competition with Dwight Howard, Kevin Durant, Kevin Love, DeMarcus Cousins, and Tim Duncan leading the top vote getters in forward-center position. All these guys are posting solid numbers and are playing the lead role in their respective teams. Jordan, on the other hand, is not really the first option of Clippers' offense. Better luck next time, giant.
