Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 users can now install Android 4.4.2 KitKat update.

As posted on International Business Times, a custom ROM based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat update can now be installed on Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. The CyanogenMod 11 ROM based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is now available for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, particularly those units bearing the model number GT-N8020.

The CyanogenMod 11 ROM is created by Simon94, a recognized member of XDA. As the post reads, the custom ROM "has been ported through official nightly builds created by XDA recognised developer, Sbrissen."

According to GSM Arena, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 was released on December 2012. The tablet originally runs with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Those who are interested to install Android 4.4.2 KitKat update using the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update can use the detailed instructions of the installation process posted on IB Times. According to reports, the custom ROM based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is fully functional though there are still untested bugs and glitches. According to XDA Developers, the Bluetooth Voice Search is not working.

Before installing the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, there are some things to do first to ensure the successful installation of the firmware.

 First, the USB drivers for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 should be installed on the computer so the Android device will connect easily to the PC during the installation process.

Second, the battery level of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 should be 80 percent or more before installing Android 4.4.2 KitKat update via the CyanogenMod 11 ROM. This is to avoid power interruption issues during the installation process.

Create a backup of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 using ClockWorkMod or other custom recovery tools before installing Android 4.4.2 KitKat update via CyanogenMod 11 ROM.

As aforementioned, the CyanogenMod 11 ROM based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is only compatible with GT-N8020 variant of Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.

But since the firmware is not an official release, users of Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 who will install Android 4.4.2 KitKat update are advised to carry on with the process at their own risk.
