‘Batman Vs Superman’ Release Date Moves Back Due To Ben Affleck Injury; Are They Afraid To Face 'The Avengers?'

The 'Batman Vs Superman' release date has been pushed back by ten months. From July 17, 2015, it will now be released on May 6, 2016.

The alleged reason is an injury sustained by Ben Affleck who will play Batman.

The rumor was circulating around the internet but the first site to make a concrete claim was Batman-News.com. The site's Chris Begley stated:

"According to my sources, Ben Affleck has sustained an injury, and as a resultBatman vs. Superman production has been pushed back six weeks. The crew was informed of that decision earlier this week, and told they'll be on hiatus for about a month. Update: A second and third source tells me that Affleck injured his ribs, not his leg as previously reported. All three sources confirmed that the injury occurred during a skiing accident around Christmas time."

Most sites that reposted the news claim that Batman-News.com has a "reliable track record" (comicbook.com) but also admit that they are not in a position to confirm anything.

Meanwhile, financial giant Forbes is quick to add a financial angle to the news. While it does not dispel any other reasons that were rumored, it presents a possible reason purely driven by pride and money. While they avoided a possible face-off with the 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' they did call out a dare for the next Marvel movie. As Forbes states: "..the real surprise is Warner Bros.' choice for a release date. They are sacrificing their best release date merely to play a game of chicken with Disney."

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" will be released on May 1, 2015 while the first Avengers released in mid-April 2012. Marvel movies have had a success with that release date, as the movie becomes the first summer hit.  "Iron Man 3" crossed the billion dollar mark with a May 3, 2013 opening and was the biggest movie in the box office last year.

Marvel has slated movies (yet unidentified) for the May 6, 2016 and even May 5 2017 release dates. In a way, Marvel has marked that release date as their territory.

Now Warner Bros. has boldly pitched their tent in Disney/Marvel's prime lot with their biggest superhero production with the world's most popular heroes. Who backs out?
