‘Batman Vs Superman’ Cast Rumors - Ben Affleck To Be Replaced? The Rumored Reasons For The Release Date Change; Which One Is True?

The big news has exploded. 'Batman Vs Superman' will not be released on July 17, 2015. Instead, fans have to wait for ten more months. Is there a strong reason for this decision?

The first rumor that floated around was that Ben Affleck was injured. This remains unconfirmed at this point. Warner Bros. on their part, was well aware that there will be panic reports and various theories that will surface so they issued a press release to downplay it. As reposted verbatim by Screenrant:

"BURBANK, CA - January 17, 2014 - Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that the release of Zack Snyder's untitled Superman/Batman film has been moved to May 6, 2016, allowing the filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story. The decision was made following the shift of the start of production to second quarter of this year. The Studio has also set a July 17, 2015, worldwide release date for its as-yet-untitled all-new Peter Pan adventure. Joe Wright will direct the epic live-action film about the boy who would never would grow up, created by J.M. Barrie. The dual date announcement was made by Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President, International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures."

Warner Bros. simply stated the facts-the delay in the release date was caused by a delay in production. What caused the latter is up for debate and speculation. Deadline recently followed the 'injury angle' and it was debunked:   "We just want to do it right and need the time."

That rumor was even stretched to say that the Ben Affleck injury was an excuse to recast him. Or Gal Gadot. Or all the other unconfirmed casting rumors. From comicbook.com:   "Some fans are speculating that Warner Bros. has gotten cold feet with either Affleck or Gadot and is looking to recast the film. Other speculation suggests not necessarily a recasting, but that Warner Bros. is having difficulty making casting decisions on some key roles, as evidenced by the multiple actors that have been rumored for the Lex Luthor role."

What's probably closer to the truth is that they are revising the script. It's applicable to how Warner Bros. stated it. The rumor leaks may be their way to gauge what the fans want, and now they have a clearer picture. Is it a revision, or a full re-write to a Justice League movie? We will have to wait 10 more months to answer that.
