Apart from promoting her latest film 'Gimme Shelter' on 'The Tonight Show', Vanessa Hudgens was similarly there to gush over her beau Austin Butler. The 25-year-old actress defended her boyfriend when Jay Leno teased Butler for his fit body.

"He's amazing!" immediately says Hudgens about Butler whom she reportedly started dating in late 2011. After hinting how much she loves the 'Carrie Diaries' actor, Hudgens talked about her upcoming flick. She will be playing the role of troubled teenager Apple.

"Every single day was definitely a challenge but one I embraced with open arms. It was just so thrilling to be able to push myself every day and see how far I could take it," she told E! News. 

She likewise talked about how she needed to be 'ugly' for the role: "And then, I just kinda tried to make myself as ugly as possible, whether that was the way that I walked or my mannerisms or the tone of my voice. I wanted her to be strong and tough but broken because that's what she is. You just see her transform into someone who actually finds love and really feels it for the first time and there's nothing more powerful than finding love."

With all the things going on between Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler, is the former Disney star still considering to reconnect with Zac Efron?

"We had the most amazing time of our lives together. To be able to come back after five years now, it'll be a really amazing thing. We're trying to set a date," explains Hudgens. However, such statement is not only for her former beau for she's talking about the whole cast of 'High School Musical'.

The 'High School Musical' stars will reportedly reunite for a benefit concert for Monique Coleman's GimmeMo' foundation.
