The CyanFox update meets a demand amongst S2 users who may otherwise be left out of the updates, since it looks like the Samsung Galaxy S2 will not be getting an update like the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The probability of the S2 not getting an update can be found on Google’s comment about the Nexus getting Android 4.4.

“Galaxy Nexus, which first launched two years ago, falls outside of the 18-month update window when Google and others traditionally update devices,” Google said in its support site.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 was released May 2011 and currently runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. It was succeeded by the Samsung Galaxy S3 in May 2012 and a refreshed version of the popular unit came in January 2013, called the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus.
