‘Divergent’ Movie Heroine Shailene Woodley Fired From ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’? Is It Too Much For Her To Handle Three Big Films?

'Divergent' movie heroine Shailene Woodley has been reportedly fired from 'The Amazing Spider-Man'. In the said, the 22-year-old has been initially hired to play the lead character's famed love interest, Mary Jane Watson. However, the small scenes that she was able to finish allegedly didn't make the cut.

Apart from having her finished scenes not included the second film, the 'Divergent' movie heroine will similarly not appear in any of the future Spiderman films. During the Sundance Film Festival, Woodley hinted about her role cancellation.

"I don't know anything, but seeing as how they picked up the next two 'Divergent' films, I don't know how I would keep my sanity with two big action films in one year. But anything can happen," she said.

Her busy schedule might be the greatest problem. Aside from her major roles in the film adaptation of Veronica Roth's trilogy, she is also the lead actress of 'The Fault in Our Stars', a film based on John Green's bestselling book.

The film is about two teenagers who fell in love after crossing paths at a cancer support group. Her leading man is Ansel Elgort who also plays the role of her brother in 'Divergent'. Woodley has nothing but praises for Elgort's skill:

"There is one scene in the book where Gus (Elgort) goes to a gas station, and he tries to buy a pack of cigarettes because it's the only way he can assert his own independence after becoming very sick. [He] did that scene so much justice, and he brought his all. It was midnight when we filmed it, and he just sat there and lost it for hours. I was just sort of in awe."

'Divergent' will hit cinema screens on March 21 while 'The Fault in Our Stars' will follow on June 6.
