Henry Cavill news 2013: The “Batman vs. Superman” release date is delayed by 10-months, according to the Daily Mail. The film, starring Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman, will be released on May 6, 2016. It was originally scheduled for showing on July 17, 2015.

The Daily Mail notes that according to official news, the delay was made so that Zack Snyder and his team will have the opportunity to “fully realize their vision, given the complex nature of the story.”

There has been rumors though that production of the new film have been hampered because of an alleged injury of Ben Affleck. The 41-year-old star is filling Christian Bale’s shoes as the cape crusader superhero opposite Henry, who is reprising his role as Superman.

In an official statement by Warner Bros., the president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman said in a statement that the summer slot that will be left open by the “Batman vs. Superman” film will be filled by the movie Peter Pan, to be directed by Joel Wright.

“We are happy to take advantage of these coveted summer dates, which are perfect for two of our biggest tent pole releases,” Fellman said in a statement, as reported by the Daily Mail.

“We share the fans’ excitement to see DC Comics’ most popular figures, Superman and Batman, together on the big screen for the first time, which will now be arriving in theatres in May 2016.”

“Peter Pan has delighted people of every generation for more than a century, so we are thrilled to bring him back to the screen next summer for today’s moviegoers.”

The Daily Mail noted that the release date of “Batman vs. Superman” will coincide with the release of a rival superhero film, expected to be the forthcoming Marvel installment Justice League.

The superhero sequel starring Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck follows the success of “Man of Steel,” which earned $630 million worldwide in global box office takings following its release in 2013.
