Windows 8.1 Update Release Date Tipped To Fall In April, Update 1 Allegedly Enables Running Win8 Apps On The Desktop, Straight To Desktop Boot

In spite the number of improvements brought by Windows 8.1, it is still considered an infant platform for experienced PC users. And we're all hoping the first major Windows 8.1 update release date would be able to solve more issues.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the first update of version 8.1 has been moved from March to early April this year. Some rumors are being more specific and are claiming that it would be launched on April 8th.

But what would the new update have in store?

Previous reports say that Microsoft will bring back the long-missed Start menu to its latest Windows 8.1 update. Users would also allegedly be able to boot straight to desktop instead of the tiled-filled Metro homescreen.

Furthermore, there are also rumors that once the update has been implemented, users would be able to run Windows 8 applications even outside of Metro, or while in desktop mode.

Surely, these are promising rumors about the features included in the first Windows 8.1 update, so we better cross our fingers and hope for the best.
