Kate Middleton News: Duchess Of Cambridge Will Publish Piece About Being Prince William’s Royal Air Force Wife, Profits Go To RAF Charities

Kate Middleton will become a published author when she pens her first piece of public writing for a book about being a Royal Air Force wife. Kate Middleton will write the foreword to the book, and all profits will go to Royal Air Force (RAF) charities.

The book, titled "Living in the Slipstream: Life as a RAF Wife," is a collection of pieces written by wives of Royal Air Force soldiers, according to Marie Claire. Kate Middleton, or the Duchess of Cambridge, is married to Prince William, who has served in the Royal Air Force and just retired last fall. He started as an officer cadet at Sandhurst military academy in 2006 and has the RAF rank of Flight Lieutenant, similar to a captain in the U.S. Air Force.

The military said he had participated in 156 search and rescue operations, helping to rescue 149 people, the Huffington Post reports. He had completed more than 1,300 flying hours.

Not only is Kate married to an ex-RAF pilot, but according to the New York Times, her grandfather was a pilot, her dad was a dispatcher at an airport and her mom was a stewardess, the Huffington Post reports.

Speaking about the writers in "Living in the Slipstream: Life as a RAF Wife," a press release from Book Guild Publishing wrote: "These women reveal, in their authentic voices and colourful portraits, what life as an RAF wife is really life... When a whole family can be require to up-stricks and move with almost no notice, when rank pulls favour even at home, and when things go comically wrong during a royal visit."

Louise Campbell, a rep for the publishing house, spoke to E! News about Kate Middleton's contribution to the book: "The three editors of the collection are all RAF wives themselves, and I think that they just felt that obviously it would lend the book some amazing credibility to have a forward by somebody that's obviously in the public eye, but is also an RAF wife herself."

"Living in the Slipstream: Life as an RAF Wife" is set to be released in May, and all profits will be donated to the Royal Air Forces Association and RAF Benevolent Fund, Marie Claire reports.
