This week promises to be a big one for the ladies of 2NE1 as they prepare for the release of their long-awaited second studio album, Crush, due out February 26.

Aside from the huge fan-following the group's four members, CL, Bom, Dara, and Minzy, have found in their native South Korea, over the last five years, they have also gained the attention and praise of some of the hottest international stars.

Having collaborated with the likes of Snoop Dogg and Will.i.am in addition to Japanese hip-hop group M-Flo and their own internationally famous label-mates Big Bang, 2NE1 have proven time and time again that as far as Korean pop stars go, they have something quite special to bring to the table.

Talented singers and rappers with cutting edge style that is all their own (just ask designer Jeremy Scott who considers the group members among his favorite style icons in the world), 2NE1 hold nothing back, making them some of the most unique and innovative stars in today's K-Pop scene.

Stateside, finding the same kind of originality is not hard, but some musicians seem to make it their personal mission to stand out from the rest of the crowd - and perhaps none more than rapper Macklemore.

With his own unique brand of hip-hop that walks the fine line between brilliantly creative and downright wacky, Macklemore recently swept the latest Grammy Awards taking home the trophies for Best Rap Album (The Heist), Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance ("Thrift Shop"), and Best New Artist.

Like 2NE1, Macklemore is a true innovator and has set himself apart from others in the contemporary US hip-hop scene with his catchy tunes, brazen lyrics, and a style that is all his own.

At the height of the careers and with a lot more avenues to venture down in the future, it is likely that sooner or later paths with cross, and with that, hopefully a collaborative effort will be forged between the American rapper and K-Pop's one-of-a-kind girl group - and in particular, youngest member Minzy.

Like their label-mates Big Bang, the four members of 2NE1 each embody a different side of the group, helping to make their songs more well-rounded with more far-reaching appeal to fans.

As one of 2NE1's singer-rappers (the other being leader CL), Minzy and Macklemore at times feel like kindred spirits. Fashion sense aside, both captivate their audiences with stage performances that unapologetically scream, "Like it or not, this is who I am - now let's have some fun!"

Minzy may be 2NE1's youngest member and she may not yet have a solo single to her name, but the feisty 20-year-old is the package deal. With dance skills that are unrivaled and the dynamism of a young, yet seasoned, star, Minzy's attitude and talent would be a perfect match for Mackelmore.

A featuring on a song is all that would be needed - Mackelmore rapping a verse for a future 2NE1 jam, or Minzy getting in on the hook for one of his new projects - the possibilities are endless, but the music video would surely be epic. And just think about how great their names sound together!

As promotions for Crush and an upcoming world tour are planning to take Minzy and 2NE1 around the world, paths will hopefully cross that would allow such a collaboration to become a reality.
