As "Doctor Who" season 8 continues filming, a new cast member has been announced that could possibly become the latest companion to join Peter Capaldi's Doctor and Clara.

Doctor Who TV reports that actor Samuel Anderson ("The History Boys," "Emmerdale") is set to join the cast of "Doctor Who" on season 8 as Danny Pink. Like Clara, he is another Coal Hill School teacher.

"I was so excited to join 'Doctor Who' I wanted to jump and click my heels, but I was scared I might not come down before filming started! It’s a quintessential part of British culture and I can’t believe I’m part of it," says Anderson on joining "Doctor Who" season 8.

"It’s an honor to be able to work alongside Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman and I can’t wait to show people how my character becomes involved with such a fantastic duo!"

But does this mean he is a new companion, and a possible love interest for Clara now that Matt Smith is no longer tantalizing the young heroine?

"For the fourth time in 'Doctor Who' history, Coal Hill School is coming to the aid of the TARDIS. In 1963 teachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright accompanied the First Doctor. These days it’s the turn of Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald. And very soon now, Sam Anderson as Danny Pink will be entering the world of the Doctor. But how and why? Answers are coming later this year in Peter Capaldi’s first series of 'Doctor Who!'"

Previously, it was rumored that Clara will get a love interest in the form of a Coal Hill School teacher, except it was in the form of Tom, played by Tristan Beint during the 50th Anniversary Special.

Now, "Doctor Who" season 8 is filming episode 4 and 5 of the series.

Reportedly, episode 4 will have guest star Robert Goodman join Peter Capaldi, and episode 5 will welcome Jonathan Bailey and Pippa Bennett-Warner in guest roles!
